REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Honorary Council and founder of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Amien Rais accused the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of being rotten internally and full of falsehood.
"My message is KPK should be maintained as an institution if possible but if it turns out to be rotten inside we review it (its existence)," Amien said after a meeting here on Wednesday with deputy speaker of the House of Representative Taufik Kurniawan.
Amien's allegation against KPK came after the anti graft agency rejected his request to talk to its leaders to clarify reports about his implication in a corruption case with suspect former Health Minister Siti Fadilah.
Amien, a former speaker of the People Consultative Assembly (MPR) met Taufik to discuss the formation of a Special Committee (Pansus) for House Inquiry Right on KPK, now in the process of selecting chairman of the Pansus.
He said he had from time to time appreciated KPK's performance as being extraordinary but it turned out to be rotten internally.
"KPK has no gut to dig deeper into the Bank Century case, Sumber Waras case, Jakarta bay reclamation case and Bank Indonesia Liquidity Aid (BLBI) case," he said.
He said KPK has only courage to deal with small cases of suspects caught red handed committing corruption of Rp50 million to Rp100 million in state fund.
"This practice should be be stopped as there should be no falsehood. I see falsehood and something rotten inside. We would prove with the use of inquiry right for which almost all factions have been committed to taking part," he added.

Amien has been implicated in a health equipment corruption case with suspects Siti Fadilah.
The KPK prosecutor said in his indictment in an anti corruption court trying Siti Fadilah that Rp600 million of the corruption fund went to the bank account of Amien.
Amien said he was confident that after the Pansus started working, many reports would be coming in about the performance of KPK, and it would be known if the institution was really a hero of law or the contrary.
He said if it turned out that something was wrong with KPK, the mechanism of Constitution should be used to deal with KPK by the House - KPK was formed by the House , therefore, it should be handed over back to the legislative body.
"KPK was the product of the House. Therefore, it should be handed over to the House , but I know no details of how it should be handled," he said.
He denied suggestion that his meeting with the House leader was an intervention with work of the House Pansus , saying he wanted only to report about the "real condition" that KPK not only discriminatory but is "super discriminatory".
Taufik Kurniawan, who is a cadre of PAN said Amien Rais coming to the House was on a friendship visit and to discuss the House Pansus on KPK with the PAN faction, added Amien wants only the best for the nation.
